For most car rental locations in Connecticut, you must be at least twenty one years old to rent a car. However, some companies, such as Hertz, allow twenty-year-olds to rent cars. In order to book a car rental, you will need a valid driver’s license and a credit or debit card in your name. However, debit cards can only be used by drivers over 25 years of age.

For young renters, such as drivers between the ages of 21 and 24, Connecticut rental locations charge a surcharge. Some vehicle classes will also be unavailable to young renters, such as minivans and commercial vans, signature and exotic rentals, full-size SUVs, and luxury cars.
